Applications Accepted for City Council Vacancy

The City Council accepted with regret, the resignation of long-time City Council member and Mayor Pro-Tem Carl Schoenow. Schnoenow was first elected in November of 2003 and has served the City for 18 years. With the acceptance of his resignation on Thursday, September 22, Council has 30 days by Charter to act to fill the vacancy. Residents interested in filling the remainder of the term must be at least 25 years of age, a registered voter within the City and have lived in the City for at least the past two years. Applications are available at the City office, 240 W. Genesee, or you can download the application here.

Applications will be accepted until 4:30 pm on Friday October 7. All applicants will be invited to participate in an interview process at a special City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 11 at 6:30 pm. It is anticipated that City Council will make a decision on the appointment later that same evening. Whomever is appointed will serve just more than two years - at which time they would need to seek election.
